Weather:
Well the weather didn't start out very pretty with snow in the air and a
cold wind. Temp started at 0C BUT with a windchill of -5C...eventually
reaching a "high" of 4C. Winds were moderate from the WNW then swinging
between NNW and NW for the rest of the day. Skies were completely overcast
with snow to start and then breaking out somewhat as the day wore on.
Raptor Observations:
A GREAT hawkwatching day today despite a rough start with the weather. A
total of 7,292 birds today with a very large flight of TVs (5,578) BUT also
a good flight of raptors with the bulk of them Sharpies (916). Other raptor
species included a good movement of Bald Eagles (22), N. Harrier (65),
Cooper's Hawk (11), and some nice buteos with Redtails (595) and
Red-shoulders (80). Falcons also passed through with Am. Kestrels (15),
Merlins (3) and a lone Peregrine. Highlights for the day included N.
Goshawks (2 - both appeared to be adults) and a few Golden Eagles (4).

Ring-billed Gull, Common Loon, Great Blue Heron (at the B&B), Flocks were:
Red-winged Blackbirds, Robins, Goldfinches, Bluebirds, Crows, Blue Jays
(but only a few), In the woods : Northern Cardinal, Ruby-crowned Kinglet,
Golden-crowned Kinglet, White-throated Sparrow
Black-capped Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Downy Woodpecker,
Red-bellied Woodpecker, Other: Mourning Dove
Rock Pigeon, Killdeer, House Sparrow, 12 Tundra Swan, Double-crested
Cormorant, Bonaparte's Gull, Ring-billed Gull, Rock Pigeon, Hairy
Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Eastern Phoebe, 2 Blue-headed Vireo, American
Crows, 2 Tree Swallows, 4 swallow sp., Eastern Bluebirds, 4 Cedar Waxwing,
9 Yellow-rumped Warbler, 4 Dark-eyed Junco, White-throated Sparrow, 3 Song
Sparrow, 1 Brown-headed Cowbird, 2 Pine Siskins.
