Hi Ontbirders,

A White-eyed Vireo was found near the Lighthouse at Presqu’ile Prov. Park
today. The bird was found and photographed by a couple (don’t know who) late
this morning. The photo was shown to Fred Helleiner who alerted Bill Gilmour,
Maureen Riggs and myself. We rushed to the area and located the bird in the
dense tangle of veg directly behind the plaque for Don Shanahan, which is
located by the viewing deck closest to the lighthouse. It is an immature bird
within dark iris. To my knowledge this is the third fall record for the Park,
all in the last decade in mid-late October.

Cheers,

Doug

Directions: Presqu’ile is located south of Brighton, on the north shore of
Lake Ontario in eastern Northumberland Co. It is well signed from both Hwy 401
or the former Hwy 2. Presqu’ile is shaped like a boot and the lighthouse is at
the “toe”. The viewing deck is about 50m from the Lighthouse on the north
shore.
