Visitors:
It was a full tower today! It was great to see the return of many of our
regular members, as well as 15 other visitors enjoying the view and birds.
We also were visited by two school groups led by ERCA.
Weather:
A very calm day, seeming especially so after the strong winds of yesterday.
The small breeze that we did have came from the NW in the morning but
switched to the SW for the afternoon. Temperatures ranged from 7C to 10C
and there was total cloud cover all day.
Raptor Observations:
Foiled again by the winds, raptors were not as numerous as we had hoped for
today. Turkey Vultures put in a small effort, along with Sharpies, Northern
Harriers, and Bald Eagles. Red-shouldered Hawks and Red-tailed Hawks tended
to fly in small groups on their own, rather than mixing with the TVs. One
adult Golden Eagle flew by halfway across the marsh, giving everyone a
decent view and allowing for a few photos. The Osprey that has been hanging
around was also fishing in the marsh and sitting in its favourite tree.
Non-raptor Observations:
American Robins are really on the move nowadays, with numbers of over 100
passing the tower. American Crows, a few Blue Jays, Cedar Waxwings,
Red-winged Blackbirds, Common Grackles, and American Goldfinches also
continue their migration, sometimes mixing together. 30 more Tree Swallows
were present over the marsh, and there were plenty of small passerines
(kinglets, sparrows, a few warblers) hanging around the area, reported by

Predictions:
