Ontbirders,
Just after 9:20 am this morning I received a message from Burke Korol in reference to 2 Pacific Loons being observed about 400 m offshore from Minet's Point Park in Barrie. I arrived not long after, and the two of us, along with Donald Sutherland, were able to observe both birds quite well, and in good conditions. Interestingly these two individuals did not look similar to a bird I had observed quite far out across the bay just yesterday afternoon. In saying so, I received a phone call from Josh Mandell while still at the park. He informed me he had an adult bird just off his boathouse (roughly 7 km east along the bay) at exactly the same time. Just a heads up that there are at least 2, and potentially more Pacific Loons currently on the bay. Good birding! Dave Szmyr Directions: Minet's Point Park can be reached by traveling east on Lakeshore Dr from downtown Barrie and turning left on Minet's Point Rd. Turn right on White Oaks Rd until you reach the park on your left. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
