Weather:
The beautiful weather continues, with the sun shining down and a warm
breeze from the SE and ESE.

Raptor Observations:
A steady procession of birds along the north side of the marsh in the
afternoon was preceded by a very slow morning. The top two migrators of the
day were Turkey Vultures and Red-tailed Hawks, almost all of which were
adults with beautiful red tails. Red-shouldered Hawks, always seeming a
little more frantic, joined the migration in reasonable numbers as well. An
Osprey floated past, unconcerned with its surroundings, and another Golden
Eagle was added to our season's tally. 9 species were seen today.

Non-raptor Observations:
Passerine numbers were not exorbitant today, but there was plenty of
variety. A smattering of Horned Larks, Blue Jays, Eastern Bluebirds,
American Robins, American Pipits, Cedar Waxwings, Rusty Blackbirds,
cowbirds, grackles, Purple and House Finches, Common Redpolls, and Pine
Siskins all made their way over the tower. The typical large, sprawling
flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds were present, as well as pockets of
American Crows. Around the tower we had American Tree, Swamp, and Song
Sparrows, as well as plenty of juncos, and even a late Tennessee Warbler!
