A light to medium west wind all day without a strong north component
resulted in a limited flight of birds, although the day was not
completely without migrants. Aside from the usual red-tailed hawks,
sharp-shinned, red-shouldered and turkey vulture, a high dark morph
rough-legged hawk was the best bird of the day.
The other highlight of the day was this visitor who in true merlin
fashion made several lightning passes and finally landed in the large
oak tree on the hill and stayed for the better part of an hour.
