Hi All,

Just a heads-up to birders that Sandhill Cranes really seem to be on the
move through southern Ontario. In two successive days I've had big flocks
over the house in Richmond Hill (Yonge St & Stouffville Rd area) north of
Toronto, on the Oak Ridges moraine.

Yesterday's flock was 60 birds, which is only the 3rd time I've had them
here in 9 years (other sightings were single & duo birds) and they were
bugling as they went over. Today, my 7-year-old called me out to say
"Daddy, there's a big flock of birds making a funny sound", I ran out to
see 120 birds in one big flock migrating high overhead. If you haven't
heard big flocks of these impressive birds, it's quite a sound to hear!

Enjoy the day, and go find a Mountain Bluebird, they seem to be inundating
the province! :-)

Good birding,
Frank Pinilla
Richmond Hill, ON

My place is on the Oak Ridges moraine, straight north of Toronto just west
of Yonge Street & Stouffville Road.
