Two weeks have passed since my last update on December 22, and an additional 11
species have been added to this winter's list, bringing the total so far to 212
species. The new additions are: American Three-toed Woodpecker, Townsend's
Solitaire, Yellow Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Great Cormorant, "Oregon"
Dark-eyed Junco, Virginia Rail, American White Pelican, Yellow-headed
Blackbird, Black-throated Green Warbler, Varied Thrush and Sora. In the nine
years that I have records for, this winter's total of 212 ranks third behind
224 in 2011-2012, and 216 in 2012-2013.

Two remaining regular species that have yet to be recorded include Boreal Owl,
and Brewer's Blackbird. Much rarer but still possible species include
Blue-winged Teal, Northern Bobwhite, Pomarine Jaeger, Franklin's Gull,
Slaty-backed Gull, Barn Owl, Swainson's Thrush, Spotted Towhee and Lincoln's
Sparrow. As always, send me a message if you are aware of a new addition to
the list.

The list can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/myyulvs . I have also provided a
link on my blog, located at
http://joshvandermeulen.blogspot.ca/p/ontario-winter-bird-list.html . I try to
update the spreadsheet at least once a day or whenever I hear of a new addition.

Good birding,

Josh Vandermeulen
