  report.

Highlights of reports received January 7 through January 14
  from the Niagara Frontier Region.

January 12, a first-year, male BALTIMORE ORIOLE was still at
a feeder in Orchard Park. Present since mid-December, this
is only the third January record of BALTIMORE ORIOLE in the
  BOS archives.

Southeast of Batavia, five GR. WHITE-FR. GEESE at DeWitt
Lake Park on January 9. The geese were not found on the
10th. A single SNOW GOOSE was also at the park.

January 8, a flock 80 SNOW GEESE on Lake Ontario at Sunset
Beach in Orleans County. Also at Sunset Beach, a reported
  RED-HEADED WDPKR.

From feeders this week - in southern Erie County, in North
Boston, 9 CEDAR WAXWINGS, SONG SPARROW, and BROWN-HEADED
COWBIRD. A single PINE SISKIN at a feeder in the Genesee
County Town of Bethany. And a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD continues
in a yard on Delaware Road in Tonawanda.

A late report from a very productive Oak Orchard Christmas
Count on December 28, including the Iroquois Refuge,
Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area and Oak Orchard Wildlife
Management Area. Four new, native species were added the
  count's 47 year checklist - 5 SANDHILL CRANES, PEREGRINE
FALCON, 3 COMMON RAVENS and EASTERN PHOEBE. Mild weather and
open water supported waterfowl including 9 WOOD DUCKS, 80
NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 4 HOODED MERGANSERS, 85 COMMON
MERGANSERS and 113 AMERICAN COOTS, plus 13 BALD EAGLES, but
  only one GREAT BLUE HERON.

SNOWY OWLS still widely reported - the Genesee County
Airport near Batavia, Point Breeze at the mouth of Oak
Orchard Creek in Orleans County, and the breakwalls at the
Small Boat and Outer Harbor in Buffalo.

Several HARLEQUIN DUCKS, and gulls including GLAUCOUS GULL
and L. BLACK-B. GULL continue at Goat Island and Three
Sisters Islands above Niagara Falls. There will be a half-
day BOS Field Trip at Goat Island on Sunday, January 17.
Meet at 8 AM in the Three Sisters Islands parking lot.
Visitors are always welcome on BOS trips.

The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, January
  21. Please call in your sightings by noon Thursday. You may
report sightings after the tone. Thank you for calling and
  reporting.
