  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your

  Highlights of reports received January 14 through January 21
  from the Niagara Frontier Region.

  From the Southern Tier, January 2 through at least the 15th,
  a very rare in winter PINE WARBLER at a suet feeder in
  Sandusky, in the northeast corner of Cattaraugus County. A second
  PINE WARBER was reported January 21 at Goat Island in Niagara
  Falls. There are six January records of PINE WARBLER in the past
  20 years in the BOS archives.

  A BALTIMORE ORIOLE continues at a feeder in Orchard Park.
  RED-W. BLACKBIRDS have been widely reported at feeders this
  month - Sandusky, Marilla and Clarence. Also at the Marilla
  feeder, a resident flock of BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS. And, a
  WHITE-THR. SPARROW at a Cheektowaga feeder near the airport.

  January 17, a new location for FISH CROWS in the region -
  one to three on the Lake Erie shore in Chautauqua County, at
  the Jackson Street boat launch in Silver Creek. At least
  five FISH CROWS continue in Fort Erie, Ontario, reported
  January 15 with AMERICAN CROWS at Bowen and Petit Roads.

  Another Lake Erie highlight, an EARED GREBE, January 7, at
  Barcelona Harbor in the Chautauqua County Town of Westfield.

  Waterfowl this week - at the source of the
  Niagara River, off the Fort Erie rocks, one SURF SCOTER, one
  BLACK SCOTER, and 100 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS. On Lake Ontario,
  BARROW'S GOLDENEYE and a SNOWY OWL continue at the mouth of
  Oak Orchard Creek at Point Breeze, in Orleans County.

  Challenging and productive gull study this week at Goat
  Island, above Niagara Falls - three THAYER'S GULLS, and
  hybrid individuals of GLAUCOUS GULL x HERRING GULL, and L.
  BLACK-B. GULL x HERRING GULL.

  The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, January
  28. Please call in your sightings by noon Thursday. You may
