Highlights of reports received January 29 through February 5
  from the Niagara Frontier Region.

Winter has yet to grab a firm hold on the region. A
BALTIMORE ORIOLE continues at a feeder in Orchard Park,
present since mid-December. BELTED KINGFISHER holding on at
Buffalo Creek in the Town of Elma. And in East Aurora, a large
  flock of AMERICAN ROBINS.

TUNDRA SWANS - 220 wintering on the upper Niagara River off
the south end of Grand Island, and 38 early migrant TUNDRA
SWANS along Lake Ontario in Wilson. Common, wintering
waterfowl continue on the length of the Niagara River.
Unlike past winters, GREAT BLUE HERONS have not been
reported on the upper Niagara River islands.

Early migrant TURKEY VULTURES were noted during the past
  week.

And, a SNOWY OWL, February 2, on a lamp post by the Small
  Boat Harbor in Buffalo.

The February BOS meeting will be this Wednesday, February
10, at 7 PM at the Buffalo Museum of Science. The program
will be a Rarities Roundup - with photos and reports
of the region's exceptional species found during 2015.
Visitors are always welcome at BOS meetings.

The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, February
  11. Please call in your sightings by noon Thursday. You may
report sightings after the tone. Thank you for calling and
  reporting.
