Hello Ontbirders,

Although frowned-upon here, I am sending a confirmed second-hand report because
it's such a great bird.

There was a Gyrfalcon yesterday at Lafleche Landfill, as already reported by
Paul Jones who saw the bird on Sat Feb 27th. So it is still around and was
photographed (crappy digiscoped pics but definitely identifiable) snacking on
what looks like a Common Raven - a big meal indeed!

Good birding!

Richmond Hill, ON

DIRECTIONS (from Paul Jones):
The location can be reached by proceeding east from Casselman on Highway 417 to
Exit 58. From the exit, follow Highway 138 south towards Cornwall. The bird was
initially seen from the 138 hunting and killing a Herring Gull over the
expansive, snow-covered sod farm field immediately south of the 417 and west of
138.

The bird is probably drawn to the area by the Lafleche Landfill (no public
access) whose gates can be reached by proceeding south on 138 to the first
right (Lafleche Road), which ends at the dump.
