The weather finally cleared up today and at 1800 hours, in a large body of
water located on the northeast side of #5 Sideroad Tosorontio and Concession
Road 3, just northwest of Alliston, there were numerous new bird species
arrivals staging for the evening. Of particular notice were about 100 swallows,
both Tree and Barn, feeding over the water, 8 or more Lesser Yellowlegs, a pair
of Wood Ducks, a pair of Common Mergansers, 20 Buffleheads, 7 Scaup, one
Kingfisher, one Great Blue heron and a Pied-billed Grebe, amongst other more
local species.
>From Alliston, drive west along Highway 89 to Concession Road 3 and go north
>until you reach #5 Sideroad Tosorontio and turn right (east). The large body
>of water is visible for a couple of kilometers on the north side. From Stayner
>or Creemore, drive south on Airport Road to Mansfield (10 Sideroad), turn east
>until you reach Concession Road 3. Now turn right (south) until you reach #5
>Sideroad Tosorontio and turn left (east). Again, the large body of water is
>visible for a couple of kilometers on the north side.
Have fun.
