The Black-necked Stilt, reported previously by Sarah Rupert on behalf of Derek
& Jen Lyon, was being observed this afternoon by a number of birders on a small
patch of flooded field just south of Mersea Rd. 1 (42°01'47.7"N
82°30'07.5"W). This road runs along the southern boundary of Hillman Marsh.
Additionally, an American Bittern was vocalizing in the southern part of the
Marsh this afternoon (May 1). Hillman Marsh is located about 5.3 km east of
Leamington. Take Oak St. (Mersea Rd. 2) to get there.
