Despite the rain there was an obvious movement of birds into Point Pelee
overnight. More of the common species such Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Baltimore
Oriole, as well as White-throated & White-crowned Sparrows, Hermit, Veery and
Wood Thrush are being seen in bigger numbers.

The duck flock on the west side of the Tip included both White-winged and Black
Scoter this morning, as well and Bufflehead and Common Goldeneye. Horned Grebe
are still showing well with 7 birds at the Tip and others scattered along the
west beach. Warblers at the Tip included: Black-and-white; Nashville, Yellow,
Yellow-rumped and Palm. Warbling Vireo was also seen at the Tip.

The Woodland Trail continues to have Blue-winged Warbler and Blue-headed Vireo
at various locations between the Visitor Centre and Bridge C. A Prothonotary
Warbler was reported along the marsh edge of the east side of the Woodland
Trail. Good numbers of thrush, sparrow, and grosbeak are also on Woodland.
Brown Thrashers were flashing across the main trail of the Woodland Trail.

An early Yellow-billed Cuckoo was reported on the West Beach Trail, originally
at the south end of the parking lot but was seen flying north.

Outside of the Park the Black-necked Stilt has been seen again on the east end
of Concession 1 in the flooded fields on the south side of Hillman Marsh east
of the first 2 houses.

Hot off the press is a beautifully plumaged Piping Plover at the south end of
the West Beach parking lot.

On the twilight tour on May 1st a small flock of Cedar Waxwing was at the
DeLaurier parking lot and 2 Spotted Sandpiper were on the beach west of the
Pioneer picnic area.
