This morning my wife and I were driving west on highway 407, and at 8:38 I
saw a large white bird flying with broad wings. As we drew closer it was
clearly of the egret family. As we passed it, the bird was on the passenger
side of the car, and my wife was able to note that the extended legs were
black with yellow feet. Because it was headed in a north-easterly
direction, she was not able to see its bill. Moving at 100+ km does not
provide best conditions for identification, but this probably was a Snowy
Egret. Those living in North York may want to check local water bodies.
