Highlights: Again, just a quick report to summarise the highlights of the last 2 weeks, as things really have got very quiet: Having not been reported elsewhere, I should mention that the CHUCK-WILL'S-WIDOW, just outside the area at Hilltop Road/Brewer's Road, Prince Edward County returned once again for the 3rd year running. I don't know whether folks went looking for it this weekend as there have been no reports. LEAST BITTERN is continuing to be heard at Big Sandy Bay, Wolfe Island as well as Moscow marsh, near Camden East. Again, outside the area at Sheffield Conservation Area, near Kaladar, PRAIRIE WARBLERS are being regularly seen. Technology (the Wolfe Island Motus wildlife tracking system) has revealed a minimum of 8 RED KNOT passing through, with 4 on the night of 2nd. These birds were tagged in Delaware. A SNOW GOOSE was seen in flight with Canada Geese at Sydenham on 30th May. ORCHARD ORIOLES continue to be reported at Lemoine Point, Kingston. PEREGRINE FALCONS (1-2) are now fairly regular at their downtown location on Princess Street. BLUE-WINGED WARBLERS (+ BREWSTERS) continue to be seen at Fishing Lake Road, near Elbow Lake Environmental Centre. A female NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen at Frontenac Provincial Park on 8th. LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, plus other alvar specialities such as UPLAND SANDPIPER and CLAY-COLOURED SPARROW are still being reported from the Napanee Limestone Plain IBA. Five GREAT EGRETS were seen at a pong just south of Yarker on 11th. WILSON'S PHALAROPE are, as usual, present at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island. In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings Policy. Also note that, as requested by the landowners, sightings of owls at the privately-owned Owl Woods must not be shared on the Internet (this includes posting as 'Amherst Island' on eBird) by KFN or anyone who visits. To ensure continued access to this location, please respect their wishes and follow the guidelines posted on-site. To maintain records for conservation purposes, sightings from that location are welcomed through all the traditional channels. As always, thanks to all those who have submitted sightings over the last couple of weeks. Mark. Mark D.
