At 6:30 pm I heard a barred owl calling three or four times from the direction of the Kiwanis Tract in Halton Region. Barred owls have been here in the winter but this is the first I've heard one in the summer. I couldn't tell you an exact location but it was in the vicinity of the dead end of 5th Line Nassagaweya.
The tract trail system can be accessed from 4th Line Nassagaweya at the intersection of 10 Side Road OR the dead end of 5th Line south of 15th Side Road (go left from the Rocky Ridge Ranch sign for the trail) OR from one of the two little parking lots on the west side of 6th Line. All these Lines can be accessed by going up Guelph Line north from the 401 and turning east on 15 Sideroad (at the Petrocan Station at the lights). Guelph Line is actually 3rd Line so all these roads are east of Guelph Line. There are a lot of trails in there so pay attention to which way you are going Jennifer Minogue _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
