Lots of activity this morning at West Perth. Several birders got good looks at
7 American Golden Plover in cell 3. In cell 2, beside the parking lot, there
were 2 Stilt and 1 Baird's Sandpiper. Other shorebirds seen were Greater (4)
and Lesser (lots) Yellowlegs, Pectoral (lots), Least (lots), and Semipalated
(5) Sandpiper, as well as Killdeer (lots) and Semipalmated Plover (3). An
American Bittern was active and seen by many birders. A Sora was present but
more elusive. Migration was noticeable with a huge flock of redwings in a
neighbouring cornfield, dozens of swallows of 5 species, and a group of
Savannah Sparrows.
