Much appreciated! Weather: Another "Pure Michigan" Chamber of Commerce day with clear blue skies transiting to pretty cumulus clouds, (which help us find and mark birds), back to clear blue. As the wind changed directions in a more easterly direction our bird counts did drop so our later hours were not as rewarding. Raptor Observations: Broad-winged Hawks and Turkey Vultures were the main attractions with Sharp-shinned Hawks running a close third. Most of the movement was in the 1000 to 1300 time frame (EDST), with a pronounced drop-off in the later hours. A Peregrine Falcon flew fairly close with a full crop to give a thrill to all present. Non-raptor Observations: Predictions: Clear skies with moderate winds from the SE. Slightly warmer temps predicted. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
