Skies were mostly clear with a slight haze throughout the day along the horizon. Winds were from the south and southeast. Raptor Observations: Similar to yesterday, there was a nice steady flow of Sharp-shinned Hawks, totaling 135. Northern Harriers had a nice showing, with a handful of Turkey Vultures and Kestrels. Only a few Broad-winged Hawks were seen today, but two Merlins provided some afternoon excitement. Non-raptor Observations: Three White Pelicans were spotted early in the morning heading northward over Celeron Island. Predictions: The passage of a cold front would be appreciated, but is not expected. Tomorrow's flight should be similar to today, but the temperatures will be hotter. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Detroit River Hawk Watch ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
