Posting on behalf of James Barber who is currently (11am-midday) watching a Buff-breasted Sandpiper at the Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island. Due to liability issues, access to the reserve is restricted to members of KFN or those accompanying a member.
The island is reached by ferry ($9) from Millhaven. They leave every hour on the half hour. Once on the island, drive straight south to the South Shore Road, hang a left (east) and continue to the SE tip where you will find the reserve. The bird is on the main pond, which is currently very low and has been excellent for shorebirds. Mark. Mark D.
