Tomorrow starts the second weekend of our Hawk Festival! Come on out and join us! A few visitors out this morning, but unfortunately there was not a lot to see other than Sharp-shinned Hawks for most of the day. Weather: Weather was pretty well as predicted, winds starting out in the NE and switching over to the SE. A few clouds in the sky helped to pick out a few high-up Sharp-shinned Hawks. Raptor Observations: Today was a little bit busier than yesterday. The majority of the raptor movement was still Sharp-shinned Hawks, with small numbers of many other species. Non-raptor Observations: Our same variety of Dabbling ducks are still sticking around, although their numbers aren't growing much yet. Today was the first day of any notable Blue Jay movement, with 1245 passing by the tower. For the full eBird checklist, go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S31611679 28 Black Saddlebags, 10 Green Darners, 6 Twelve-spotted Skimmers, and 16 Monarchs were observed migrating today. Predictions: Winds out of the SW and a chance of thundershowers throughout the day. Sounds a lot like last Saturday! ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens (seanjennisk...@hotmail.com) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
