Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8.75 hours

Observers: Carol Pitts, Ed Pitts, Larry Ludwicki, Michael Williamson,
                  Natasha Barlow

Visitors:
The N winds not only brought birds, but also brought a good number of
visitors to the tower today! Most were able to see Sharp-shinned Hawks as
usual, but also Broad-winged Hawks and most were able to see several others
as well!

Weather:
Winds started out of the N, but very gentle. In late morning, the winds
switched to the SW which had us worried, but they soon went back to N with
moderately strong gusts. Mostly clear skies in the morning, clouded over in
the afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
Today started out slightly worrisome with not a single raptor being
recorded in the first hour. But the day soon picked up and within a couple
hours we were getting a good number of small Broad-winged Hawk kettles!
Many of the kettles included some numbers of Turkey Vultures. Over all, a
good day to be on the tower!

Non-raptor Observations:
Most interesting non-raptors of the day were 3 Stilt Sandpipers flying by
early in the morning. A similar selection of dabbling ducks are still in
the marsh. 25,690 Blue Jays migrated past the tower, as well as 262
American Goldfinches. For the full eBird checklist, go to
http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S31723038 251 Black Saddlebags, 15
Green Darners, 2 Twelve-spotted Skimmers, and 278 Monarchs were counted
migrating past the Hawk Tower today.

Predictions:
Tomorrows predictions with winds starting out in the NE and switching to E
as the day progresses.
