Weather: Another sunny day with Southerly winds. Raptor Observations: More birds than yesterday surprisingly, but only due to the fairly constant stream of Turkey Vultures to our North. Red-shouldered and Red-tailed Hawks tied in total numbers today, with 4 of each migrating over, several of the Red-shoulders gave really good close views as well! Non-raptor Observations: The first Ring-necked Duck of the season was out with the American Coots first thing in the morning, other dabbling duck numbers remain constant. 21,800 Blue Jays were counted flying over, as well as 1,493 American Goldfinches! For the full eBird checklist, go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S31921440 3 Black Saddlebags, a single Green Darner, and 10 Monarchs were observed. Predictions: More sunny skies, and more South winds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
