Today had only John and Lisa from Indiana---no other visitors on this
dreary day.

An overcast morning gave us about 20 minutes of partly sunny skies, and
eventually turned to steady rain in the 11am hour. Winds were out of the
South and very light. Temperatures were balmy for mid Oct, between 18C and
19.8C. The marsh was hazy this morning with visibility worsening when
the rain began. The count was shortened today after an hour and a half of
steady rain with no raptors we packed up for the day, since the hourly
forecast didn't have much hope for the daylight hour.

Raptor Observations:
Very little raptor movement today with only 4 species represented. Even
the Sharpies "took the day off" with only 8 moving through. Turkey
Vultures started in the window on partly sunny skies, but were quickly
thwarted by the rain.

Non-raptor Observations:
The duck population in the marsh is growing with large numbers of Mallards
and American Coot leading the way. Also noted today were a fair number of
American Wigeon and some Northern Pintail.
Blue Jays were moving nicely until the rain started, and several flocks of
Red-winged Blackbirds were also noted.
A few late Tree Swallows and Chimney Swifts came through, and a nice flock
of Kinglets, mostly Ruby crowned.

Chance of showers with mild temperatures and SSW winds.
