Weather: Southeast winds were persistent today, but temperatures were pretty chilly, only reaching the low 50sF. Skies were partly to mostly cloudy. High barometric pressure. Unfortunately, the south winds did push many of our migrants to the north, making spotting and ID challenging at times. Raptor Observations: Great raptor day today! We were lucky to have the November trifecta one day early - Golden Eagle, Rough-legged Hawk, and Goshawk! Turkey Vultures were sill moving through in pretty big numbers, and many Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks were on the move as well. An exciting day with good numbers and variety. Non-raptor Observations: The crows celebrated Halloween with us today! Another "black river" of crows over the count site through the morning, with 10,000+. Bonaparte's Gulls were also seen. Predictions: Temperatures will be pretty warm tomorrow, reaching 70F by the afternoon. Winds will be from the south. Migration may not be quite as good as today. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Detroit River Hawk Watch ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
