Weather: Warm, hazy, and nearly windless. Raptor Observations: A few birds today, but still too warm for any real push of raptors. Non-raptor Observations: Though today's raptor movement was minimal, I was able to keep busy for the morning counting the masses of migrating passerines! 145 Blue Jays, 620 American Crows, phenomenal count of 2,019 Horned Larks, 170 Eastern Bluebirds, 304 American Robins, 212 American Pipits, 567 Cedar Waxxwings, 87 Purple Finches, and 358 American Goldfinches all migrated over the tower today, mostly in the morning and most totals are undercounted. Also of note, were 3 Cattle Egrets that spent a little while out in the marsh. For the full eBird checklist, go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32342803 Predictions: Rain overnight so the birds may take a little while to dry off before migrating. North winds so maybe it will be good! ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
