Weather: Although they were calling for partially sunny skies in the afternoon, the sun never broke through. The occasional light drizzle came over the tower, but majority of the day was lacking in precipitation thankfully, though it still felt very damp. Moderate Westerly winds throughout the day. Raptor Observations: 3 Northern Harriers today, including a nice young male, about 75% molted into its adult plumage. Also singles of Red-tailed Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, and Bald Eagle. Non-raptor Observations: The water is now open again, and thus the ducks that are left are more spread out and on occasion, difficult to find. We were able to listen to the nice musical war between two male Winter Wrens, singing their hearts out at each other for almost 10 minutes, while another (assumed female) chattered from the grasses between them. For the full eBird checklist, go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32700849 Predictions: Partially sunny in the morning, with a good chance of rain the the afternoon. Westerly winds all day again. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
