On the Buffalo CBC today, Betsy Potter found a male PINE WARBLER in the
trees on the south side of the greenhouse which is about ½ km above Niagara
Falls. This is likely the same bird that she and Dean DiTommaso found at the
beginning of the month. Interestingly, a female Pine Warbler has also been
seen at nearby Dufferin Islands at least twice in the past few weeks. At
Kings Bridge Park, located on the north side of the Welland River, where it
empties into the Niagara River in Chippewa, I found an AMERICAN PIPIT. Photo

Lots of gulls around the falls today. We had eight species (Iceland,
Glaucous, Lesser Black-backed, and Thayer’s among the four common species)
but could not find any uncommon small gulls, despite the large number of
Bonaparte’s Gulls present. We could not find the Harlequin Ducks that have
been seen above the barge today, though they have been reported recently and
are almost certainly still around.

Good birding!
