As we approach the end of the year, new birds have been added to the winter
bird list almost daily, a trend that will certainly slow down as the last few
remaining "easy" species are accounted for. Since my last update on December
15, the following species have been added bringing the total to 207 species.
These species are Fish Crow, Eastern Meadowlark, Summer Tanager, White-winged
Dove, Yellow-headed and Brewer's Blackbirds, American Three-toed Woodpecker,
Smith's Longspur, Spotted Sandpiper, Gray Partridge, Virginia Rail, Lincoln's
Sparrow, Harris's Sparrow, Northern Hawk Owl, Indigo Bunting and Sora.

There are very few remaining expected species. Some of the more likely species
to be added to the list over the next two months include Boreal Owl, Varied
Thrush, Eared Grebe, California Gull, Eurasian Collared-Dove and Baltimore
Oriole.

The list can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/myyulvs . I have also provided a
link on my blog, located at
http://joshvandermeulen.blogspot.ca/p/ontario-winter-bird-list.html . I try to
update the spreadsheet every couple of days or whenever I hear of a new
addition. Please let me know if you hear of a new addition or any other
correction to the spreadsheet.

Good (winter) birding,
Josh
