This morning at Humber Bay Park east, a group from FLAP Canada, braving the -12 degree temps on their annual New Year birding event, were treated to good views of a male Harlequin duck, mixed in with a big raft of redheads. A ruddy duck, white-winged scoter, a few northern shovelers and a couple of American wigeon were also spotted in various parts of the bay, along with fair numbers of gadwall, common goldeneye, and long- tailed ducks. Also seen were both hooded and red-breasted mergansers, and a lone pied-billed grebe.
Thanks to the gentleman who alerted us to the Harlequin. Humber Bay Park east is in the Park Lawn Rd and Lakeshore Blvd. W. area, accessed along Marine Parade Dr. Good birding.
