Posted with the permission of the Ontbirds coordinator. The Huron Fringe Birding and Nature Festival has something for every birder with 80 outings offered over two 4-day weekends, May 26 - 29, and June 1 - 4. Festival events are led by top birders from across Ontario, as well as by Bruce and Grey County’s own local experts.
The Festival is based out of MacGregor Point Provincial Park on Lake Huron, near the town of Port Elgin in Bruce County. The Lake Huron shoreline fringe creates a migrant corridor guiding birds through the Park and up the Bruce Peninsula, an area that probably has the most nesting songbird species in southern Ontario. An overall incredible diversity of flora and fauna add to the richness of the events. Registration opened February 1. Some events filled the very first day, and others are near-capacity! However, spaces remain in a great selection of outings. Registering now would give you the most choice! Check out our program on the website below, and see why we think we rank with the best birding and nature festivals in North America. http://friendsofmacgregor.org/page/huron-fringe-birding-festivalwww.huronfringefest.wordpress.com <http://www.huronfringefest.wordpress.com/> Lynne Richardsonon behalf of the Huron Fringe Birding Festival Program Committee _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
