Birders, My friend Mourad had the bird this evening close to shore near the east side of the park. It appears that it is a Western Grebe. He sent me a photo as well. I had long distance looks at it around lunch near the west side of the park.

We walked about 100m past this spot and viewed from the tip of the hill for a higher angle. Good luck to anyone trying for it!
