Fourteen Tundra Swans were enjoyed around the end of the mouth of the Sturgeon
River today. It is a difficult spot to get to - but worth the effort.
One must get to the river mouth which is south of Sturgeon Falls. Go
down Nipissing Street 2 miles or so to Quesnel Road - which leads westerly to
the river. Follow the road along the river southerly to its very end. Then one
must walk about 3/4 mile along the ice still at the river edge past the mouth
and view the open water now present there within the balance of ice of Lake
Nipissing. The swans should be there for a day or two yet, one would hope.
Sturgeon Falls is 1/2hour due west of North Bay, along hwy 17. North
Bay is 3 1/2 hours due north of Toronto.
