Hi all:

I spent a beautiful, sunny, mild day in the Park checking out the locations
that we usually visit on this trip. Due to a major snowfall of about 30 cm in
the eastern part of the Highway 60 Corridor starting on Thursday night, there
will be some areas that we normally go to that will not have adequate plowed
parking and where deep snow (the old stuff plus the new stuff!) will make
walking difficult. We will likely go to fewer locations and walk a little
farther than usual at the ones we do visit tomorrow.

Bring waterproof boots suitable for going through heavy, wet snow. We will
avoid the knee-deep places, of which there are many.

Good numbers of finches were coming to the Visitor Centre seed today, including
Purple Finch (2), Common Redpoll (1), Pine Siskin (50), American Goldfinch (20)
and Evening Grosbeak (50). That is where we will start, at 9 am.

Finding the boreal specialties may be even more challenging than usual, but we
will give it a good try.

It will be even warmer tomorrow than today, and one or two people were wearing
shorts today!

There will be no black flies.

Ron
