Good Birding,

Slow but steady birding today throughout the Park between rain showers. About
12 species of warbler have been reported thus far today. No sign of the Fish
Crow that was near the Visitor Centre yesterday evening. The Eared Grebe is
still hanging about near the Tip with many Horned Grebes, and the Henslow's
Sparrow from the last few days is now just south of the path from West Beach
Trail to the Half-way Stop. There was a Yellow-breasted Chat seen on Tilden
Woods Trail, near the bench at the entrance of the first seasonal trail.
The Tufted Titmouse was seen again South of the Visitor Centre, on the Woodland
Nature Trail.
At the Tip a Hooded Merganser was seen offshore. Also, once the wind shifted
more to the south, a number of birds were moving south off the Tip. Between the
washrooms and the Tip, especially on the west side, a number of common warblers
were seen as well as both oriole species, a Scarlet Tanager, several vireo
species, and other birds flying off the Tip and in that vicinity.
As mentioned, the Eared Grebe was offshore near the Tip.
A Henslow's Sparrow was reported just south of the Halfway Stop over on the
West Beach Trail.
At the Halfway Stop there were a number of warblers and a Yellow-throated
Vireo.
As you walked south from the Visitor's Centre, almost immediately there was an
Orange-crowned Warbler, and a Wood Thrush. Also noted by song was a Carolina
Wren, which appeared to be over on the roadway to the Tip. A Veery was further
south towards Interpretive sign 7 as was the Tufted Titmouse. A Swainson's
Thrush and Hermit Thrush were also reported along the trail.
Over in Tilden Woods, a Yellow-breasted Chat was seen near the bench next to
the first seasonal trail and the surrounding vicinity as far back as the
intersection with Shuster Trail. Another Yellow-throated Vireo was reported
from Tilden Woods.
