Hi all,

This morning I received a call from Josh Mandell saying he had observed 2 adult
Little Gull's just offshore of Minet's Point Park in Barrie.

When I arrived it was raining quite hard, however I was able to get a scope on
at least one of the birds to the East of the park feeding among Bonaparte's
Gulls along the shoreline.

Over the last decade or more Little Gull have been found with regularity each
fall on Kempenfelt Bay, primarily from about late September to mid to late
November. Some individuals will stay on until early December and depending on
ice conditions a few may linger even later. I observed two 1st cycle birds as
late as January 12th in 2016.

Spring however is a much different situation, with limited historical
observations. This is the main reason for this post.

For those interested, here are directions to Minet's Point Park:

Minet's Point Park can be reached by traveling east on Lakeshore Dr
from downtown Barrie and turning left on Minet's Point Rd. Turn right on White
Oaks Rd until you reach the park on your left.

Good birding,

Dave Szmyr
