Really enjoying your daily reports. Please let me know if anyone sees their
first migrating monarch butterfly. Some have reached Ohio, just south of Pelee.

Subject: [Ontbirds] Point Pelee NP Migration Report-May 9, 2017

After a long, wet wait the birds are back! Multiple sightings have been
reported throughout the Park of many of our Wood Warblers and other migrants.
Up to the time of this post more than 23 warblers have been reported including
PROTHONOTARY, KIRTLAND'S, ORANGE-CROWNED, NORTHERN PARULA, BLACKBURNIAN, and
CAPE MAY.
Other awesome birds included a LECONTE'S SPARROW, and two SUMMER TANAGERS.

The LECONTE'S SPARROW was seen briefly at the boardwalk in Tilden Woods, near
the west seasonal trail.

For those seeking the KIRTLAND'S it is being seen on the West Beach Trail
approximately 100 metres south of the Visitors Centre.

There may be 2 PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS as one was seen near Bridge F on the
Woodland Trail and the other from the Northwest Beach.

2 SUMMER TANAGERS were noted, one near Bridge A on the Woodland Trail and the
other on the east seasonal trail on the Tilden Trail.

Other favourite colourful birds that many birders look for such as INDIGO
BUNTING, RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, ORCHARD and BALTIMORE ORIOLES were more common.

Our favourite Rufous Morph of EASTERN SCREECH-OWL is back near its favourite
tree in Tilden Woods.

A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was spotted on West Beach Trail, just north of the Tram
Loop. Further north on the West Beach Trail, near the halfway Tram Loop stop
crossover trail, there was a HOODED WARBLER.

Other migrants included our first GREY-CHEEKED THRUSH, with HERMIT, WOOD &
SWAINSON'S THRUSH.

Good Birding,
