After yesterday's warm temperatures winds shifted to the north and it is decidedly cooler in the Park this morning, but the birding continues to be very good. A total of 25 species of warblers were reported this morning.
Bird activity along Woodland Nature Trail was good with several pockets of birds. PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS were again observed along Woodland Trail at both Bridge A and F. Numerous migrants were reported between the Visitor Centre and Tip area including both YELLOW-BILLED and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, several PHILADELPHIA VIREOS, GREY-CHECKED THRUSH, singing WILLOW, ALDER, and LEAST FLYCATCHERS, and CANADA, WILSONS, and MOURNING WARBLERS. A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was reported from the Sparrow Field along with a singing MOURNING WARBLER. Other migrants included OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER,YELLOW-THROATED VIREO and numerous SWAINSON'S THRUSHES. Highlight of the morning was a MISSISSIPPI KITE observed flying over the Visitors Centre parking lot heading southwest.
