The Festival of Birds is going out with a bang. There are many migrants still to be seen and heard at the Tip and on the Woodland Trail. 20 species of warblers have been reported already today, including CANADA, WILSON'S, MOURNING, YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, CONNECTICUT, NORTHERN PARULA and the nesting PROTHONOTARY.
Though windy, the Tip was productive. A BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was seen in the Sparrow Fields, as was a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT and a WILSON'S WARBLER. A MOURNING WARBLER was reported from the Tram Loop. A latish NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was calling & being seen in the slough at the north end of the north seasonal trail in Tilden. An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was also reported from Tilden Trail. This is the final day of Point Pelee's Festival of Birds and the end of our daily migration updates. It does not mean the end of migration, however, as late migrating species such as WILSON'S, CONNECTICUT, and MOURNING WARBLERS are still possible. Females of many of the early migrants have yet to come through in big numbers and are also likely to be seen. Good Birding, and behalf of the team of bird hike leaders we thank you for visiting Point Pelee and hope to see you again next year.
