Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintains records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with 'Kingston FN'. Alternatively, please email or post records
directly to me - contact details below. Please note that some sightings may
require review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise.

 

Highlights:

Last weekend saw several birding teams out and about. Not surprisingly, some
good finds were made. Here are the highlights of the last week:

 

*BRANT - multiple reports continued over the period, with the focus this
week continuing around Millhaven/Amherst Island.

*RED-THROATED LOON - a surprise find was a breeding-plumage bird on the
ferry crossing to Amherst Island on 20th.

*LEAST BITTERN - Birds were noted at Big Sandy Bay, Wolfe Island IBA on
20th, and Moscow Marsh on 24th.

*MARBLED GODWIT - a single bird was seen at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst
Island IBA on 20th. It or another bird was seen at Kaiser Cross Road on
22nd.

*RED KNOT - a single bird was present at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst
Island IBA on the morning of 20th.

CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW - the bird continues to be heard on Hilltop Road, Prince
Edward County.

LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE - several reports this week, with 1-2 birds regular at
Napanee Plain IBA, where 1 was seen on 15th.

*NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD - a single bird was seen near Murvale on 26th.

*LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH - 1-2 birds were noted quite regularly along Canoe
Lake Road.

*HOODED WARBLER - a male was present at Prince Edward Point, South Shore IBA
on 23rd.

*YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT - this bird was seen by several observers at Prince
Edward Point, South Shore IBA on 21st. It was banded on 22nd, and then
subsequently seen on 26th.
