Hi there, I just found a Black-headed Gull in first summer plumage among a flock of a few hundred gulls resting behind the "no trespassing" fence at the end of the driveway and pier for the ferry in Leamington. This is likely the same individual found by Jeremy Hatt in Wheatley last week. If searching for it, its brown coloured head and larger size vs the Bonaparte's Gulls are very apparent in the bright sun, and viewing quality is pretty good through said fence.
The ferry dock is at the south end of Erie St. in Leamington, Essex County. Good birding! Jeremy Ps, I would be very appreciative if someone would trade me a Laughing Gull for this Black-headed Gull! I was too busy with field work to catch up with the mostly one-day-wonder Laughing Gulls :( Thank you! Jeremy Bensette - Leamington, ON I'm doing an Ontario Big Year in 2017! Up to 306 bird species and counting! _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
