Finer directions for Night Heron. Just past railway bridge and Tree of Life trail plaque, there is a little gravel slope down to a look out with a bench facing the river. From the bench, there is a dirt path going west further down towards the river. Follow this path under the fallen tree and continue till you see a small 'path' to the river where the weeds have been trampled down by successful heron spotters. Bird is at eye level directly across the river roosting in a tangle but clearly visible. Good luck.Rick ThorntonExeter -------- Original message --------From: Dan MacNeal via ONTBIRDS <[email protected]> Date: 2017-09-02 7:13 AM (GMT-05:00) To: birdalert ontbirds <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Ontbirds] Juvenile yellow crowned night heron at st. Jacob The bird is still here and showing well feeding in the water across the river about 300 metres past (west of) the rail bridge. It's viewable from a lookout where there is a bench down close to the river. This is 30 meters past the "Tree of Life" plaque.
