Hi folks
I observed a Juvenile, 1st year Sabine' Gull at the west end of Saddington
Park in Mississauga, west of Port Credit. Presumably this is the same Juvenile
that David Pryor has found at Colonel Sam Smith Park ( Kipling spit ) and maybe
the one that has been showing off at Van Wagner's beach in Hamilton.
The time was close to 2 pm. There are very strong onshore Westerly winds. The
bird came close to the walking Jetty into Lake Ontario at the south west part
of the main Parking lot closest to the Lake at the southernmost part of
Mississauga Rd., 20 m west on bike/walking path just south of fenced in area.
Of course it was being blown by the winds toward the Credit River.
Easily spotted with the M markings on the wings and Triangular White area
from speculum toward the middle of the wing and single narrow black band on
white tail. Basically the same bird as yesterday at KIpling Spit.
It can be anywhere along the shoreline, although there are many Gulls and
some terns on the moored boat in Port Credit Harbour.
Best of luck. It is still on Lake Ontario.
