Highlights:

A relatively quiet week, though the northerlies are certainly starting to
bring the migrants into the area. Morven Creek, Napanee, is certainly worth
a visit as a variety of shorebirds, including 3 Pectoral Sandpipers on 7th,
are being seen there. Also good at this time of year is Prince Edward Point
where a surprise is always possible. Here are the highlights of the last
week:

SNOW GOOSE - an early arrival was seen at Camden Lake on 7th.

WHIMBREL - Never common in this part of the world, a single was seen at
Prince Edward Point on 7th.

RED-NECKED PHALAROPE - a single bird was seen at Kaiser Cross Road, Prince
Edward County, on 4th.

LITTLE GULL - a birding party on Amherst Island encountered a single bird at
the ferry on 4th.

LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE - Two reports during the period, both from Napanee Plain
IBA, where singles were seen on 1st and 6th.

DICKCISSEL - a single bird was banded at the Prince Edward Point Bird
Observatory on 5th.

In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property in the recording
area, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings
Policy
<http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy.
pdf> . Please note that you must be a member of Kingston Field Naturalists
(KFN) or be accompanied by a member to access the Martin Edwards Reserve.

As always, a big thank you goes to all who have submitted sightings over the
last week.

Mark.
