Weather: As expected winds did not help today being light from the W and SW. Lots of clouds around and warm to a high of 22C by the end of the count period at 11:00 a.m. Raptor Observations: Just 5 bird tallied today.... 4 Sharpies and a Merlin. Non-raptor Observations: More non-raptors were reported today than raptors.... with Am. Crows, Blue Jays, E. Startlings, DC Cormorants, several warbler species... Black and White, Magnolia, Am. Redstart, Blackpoll, Bay-breasted, Chestnut-sided, BT Green and BT Blue, Wilson's and Canada, Woodpeckers... Downy, Red-bellied and N. Flicker, Gray Catbird, E. Pewee, Red-eyed and Warbling Vireos, N. Cardinal, Canada Geese, RT Hummingbird, House Wren and Cedar Waxwings. Monarchs tallied today: 23 Predictions: The winds don't look much more promising for tomorrow so I suspect there won't be much of a flight. In fact, the next several days aren't looking much better which is unfortunate given this weekend is the first of the Hawk Cliff Open House days that typically coincide with a big push of Broadwings. Of course, ONLY A HAWK WATCHER would complain about the string of above average temperature and beautiful sunny weather days coming up!! ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown (thebro...@ezlink.on.ca) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: http://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
