Visitors:
Lots of visitors today. Thanks to all the volunteers for helping with day 2
of the open house and to the counters and observers for getting a count
done today... Jen and Derek, Tom B, Chris, Keith, Ronnie and Tom S.
Weather:
Still quite warm with a high temp of 27C. Winds light from the SSW and S
for the day with a mix of sun and clouds.
Raptor Observations:
Again the flight was a bit better than expected given the winds though
better than yesterday. Observers tallied 200 birds with a large number of
Sharpies (137) and Am. Kestrels (32) along with Ospreys (7), N. Harriers
(11), a long Cooper's Hawk and single Redtail that appeared to actually be
migrating through, a few Broadwings (7) and Merlins (4).
Non-raptor Observations:
Some good non-raptors reported today...with several warbler
species...Canada, Magnolia, BT Green, Blackpoll, Blackburnian, Wilson's,
Black and White, Nashville, Chestnut-sided and Common Yellowthroat,
Red-eyed Vireo, Brown Thrasher, Green Heron, Cedar Waxwings, RT
Hummingbirds, TB Sapsucker, N. Flicker, Belted Kingfisher, House Wren,
Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Hairy Woodpecker, Chimney Swifts and Eastern
Bluebirds.
Monarchs tallied: 53
Others: Clouded and Orange Sulphurs
Eastern Tailed Blue, Great Spangled Fritillary
