Highlights:

A real mix of sunshine, rain, high winds and fog has both entertained and
frustrated birders these last couple of weeks, though nothing too
spectacular has arrived in the area. Kinglets, sparrows and Yellow-rumped
Warblers have been hard to miss, with good numbers of Hermit Thrushes and a
smattering of Rusty Blackbirds also coming through. Here are the highlights
of the last couple of weeks:

SNOW GOOSE - A few more birds have passed through but not in significant
numbers.

BRANT - just one record of a single bird at McDonald Memorial Park, Kingston
on 12th.

REDHEAD - numbers are building up with 3000 noted in Kingston's Inner
Harbour on 13th.

CANVASBACK - a single bird was at Cataraqui Bay on 13th.

EURASIAN WIGEON - the male found in Kingston's Inner Harbour on 26th Sept
continues at the same location (best viewed from Lilla Burke Park). A second
male bird was seen at Cataraqui Bay on 12th.

AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER - 12 birds were still present at Kaiser Cross Road on
7th.

WHITE-EYED VIREO - a beautiful example of this scarce bird was banded at
Prince Edward Point on 6th.

In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property in the recording
area, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings
Policy
<http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy.
pdf> . Please note that you must be a member of Kingston Field Naturalists
(KFN) or be accompanied by a member to access the Martin Edwards Reserve.

As always, a big thank you goes to all who have submitted sightings over the
last week.

Mark.
