Weather: Another mixed bag of weather today with moderate winds from the WSW and again lots of clouds. Even cooler temps today with a high to just 8C. Raptor Observations: Another flight of mostly TVs (295)... with a few other birds...Sharpies (8) and Redtails (3) for a total of 306 for the day. Non-raptor Observations: We counted 20 monarchs, many flying high overhead this afternoon. In addition, a single Black Saddlebags dragonfly managed to cross the field and clear the treeline at Sharpie Alley. In the non-raptor avian department, 16 species were spotted today, mostly in the immediate area surrounding Sharpie Alley. These were Am. Pipit, Am. Robin, Eastern Bluebird, European Starling, Pileated Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, Winter Wren, Blue Jay, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Gray Catbird, Cedar Waxwing, Blak-capped Chickadee and Northern Cardinal. Predictions: It may be just SLIGHTLY better for a flight on Thursday if the winds don't get to much around to the West. And if there's some good sunshine around they may even be able to catch some thermals and kettle up. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown (thebro...@ezlink.on.ca) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: http://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
